Book Review: The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring, by Richard Preston
Random House Publishing, 2007

This book is a beautiful tale of the exploration of the Coast Redwood (Sequoia Sempervirens) canopy. Richard Preston, author of The Hot Zone, spins a narrative so compelling I finished it within two days. Mixing science, romance and thrilling excitement, this book is a real treat to read.
Preston follows the lives of scientists and amateurs alike in the quest to truly discover the redwood canopy. With enchanting detail, The Wild Trees draws the reader into a climbing harness and into the embrace of the ancient and wondrous Redwood trees.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It occupies my favorite shelf, ready to be reread for decades to come.
